Frequently Asked Questions
How long do therapy sessions last for?
A standard “therapy hour” is 50 minutes long. Some sessions can be scheduled as two back to back sessions, and last 100 minutes (or 1 hour and 40 minutes). Double sessions are provided at client request, but not required for any type of therapy.
What forms of payment are accepted?
Currently, we accept cash, checks and credit/debit cards (Visa, Mastercard) as payment. We also accept AETNA insurance, Optum Insurance, TriCare (TriWest) Insurance, and California Victims Compensation Board (CalVCB).
For out of network insurance reimbursement, please inquire about a superbill.
What are the benefits to paying for therapy out of pocket versus using insurance?
In order to provide therapeutic services, insurance companies require a documented mental health diagnosis and will allot a specified number of sessions based on the severity of that diagnosis. They also periodically can request copies of notes, treatment plans and other information related to services. When choosing to pay out of pocket, diagnostic information, session notes and treatment plans are held in confidentiality with the therapist. The client also has more say on the frequency and duration of their own mental health treatment.
Super bills can be provided at client request, but it is important to note that diagnostic information is required to be provided. It is important to check with your insurance policies prior to assuming that you can submit a super-bill for reimbursement.
What is the standard session fee?
A standard 50-minute therapy session with a licensed clinician costs $125.00. A standard 50-minute therapy session with an associate is $100, and $120 for couples.
